Expert Seminar Series 2

Seminars of six ELTE researchers selected to visit IDP2Biomed Partner institutions. Seminars will be open to the scientific community of the host institutions. Visits will also be used for informal training on theoretical and experimental aspects of IDPs in biomedical applications.

  1. The first ESS2 trip took place in Göttingen in February 2025. The senior researchers who traveled were: Andrea Gyöngyvér Bodor and Mihály Kovács. You can see the first ESS2 trip program below:
    • Andrea Bodor: "Characterization of IDPs: 1Ha detected approaches, the cis/trans proline equilibrium, assessment of structural propensities"
    • Mihály Kovács: "Emerging roles of dynamic condensation by single-stranded DNA binding (SSB) proteins in bacterial and eukaryotic stress response".
    • Christian Pantoja: Sample preparation for NMR measurements on intrinsically disordered proteins
    • Christian Griesinger: Internal dynamics in the disordered regions of aggregation-prone proteins
    • Markus Zweckstetter: Molecular tools to inhibit pathological protein aggregation
    • Elisa Oberbeckmann: Mechanisms of action of chromatin remodelling proteins
    • Stefan Jakobs: Methods for ultrastructural investigation of mitochondria and other organelles
    • Loren Andreas: NMR approaches to study protein complexes
    • Oleksiy Kovtun: Biophysical measurements on intrinsically disordered proteins
  2. The second ESS2 visit took place at the University of Cambridge in June 2025, during which the following lectures were given by our leading researchers from ELTE:
    • Zsuzsanna Dosztányi: From Short Linear Motifs to Higher-Order Assemblies: LC8 Interactions in Centrosomal IDPs
    • Andrea Gyöngyvér Bodor: IDPs: structural features by the DR and SPIT statistics, disorder-to-order transitions for p53
    • Mihály Kovács: Emerging roles of nucleic acid-dependent and redox-dependent dynamic condensation by single-stranded DNA binding (SSB) proteins in bacterial and eukaryotic stress response
  3. The third ESS2 trip will be held on 7 November in the University of Padova. The senior researchers traveling from ELTE will Andrea Bodor and Mihály Kovács.
